Vietnam Airlines insures fleet for 6 billion USD

Vietnam Airlines, the national air carrier, and a consortium of insurers in Hanoi have signed a 2015–16 insurance contract worth 6 billion USD.
Vietnam Airlines, the national air carrier, and a consortium of insurersin Hanoi have signed a 2015–16 insurance contract worth 6 billion USD.

Theinsurers, PetroVietnam Insurance Corporation (PVI), the VietnamNational Aviation Insurance Company (VNI) and Bao Viet InsuranceCompany, will provide aviation insurance to the entire fleet of VietnamAirlines, Jetstar Pacific Airlines and Vietnam Air Service Company fortheir worldwide flights.

The contract, signed on December 26,will also include aircraft body insurance and liability insurance forpassengers, cargo and war risk.

General Director of VietnamAirlines Pham Ngoc Minh said the cooperation between the carrier and thePVI–VNI–Bao Viet consortium will not only cater to the best interestsof the participants but will also provide safety precautions for thepassengers.

"Along with the investment to develop the fleet andservice quality to become one of the leading air firms in the region,the guarantee provided by three of Vietnam's prestigious insurers willgive passengers more reasons to consider Vietnam Airlines as an option,"explained Minh.

Vietnam Airlines became an official member ofthe SkyTeam Alliance on June 10, 2010. It is also the firstrepresentative of the alliance in Southeast Asia. The firm has more than300 flights per day, with 96 air routes to 21 domestic destinations and29 international destinations.

The firm has a fleet of 82 modernplanes, which include the Boeing 777, Airbus A330 and Airbus A321. Itaims to expand the fleet by acquiring technologically advanced planessuch as the Airbus A350XWB and Boeing 787-9.-VNA

Japanese retailers step up business activities in Vietnam

Aeon – Japan's largest retail group – plans to increase the number of hypermarkets, also known as "Super Supermarket (SSM)" and general merchandise stores (GMS) in Vietnam from 12 as of February 2025 to about 100 stores by 2030. Another large Japanese group, Sumitomo, also aims o open supermarkets in Vietnam, with about 10 stores per year.

Vietnamese banks promote development of global strong brands

Vietnamese banks have also proactively improved their image and position in the international arena. According to Brand Finance's 2025 rankings, 13 Vietnamese banks are now listed in the Top 500 banks with the highest brand value globally.

In response to these trends, economic experts have recommended Hanoi to implement a range of measures to manage inflation in the coming months. They emphasised the need to strengthen price monitoring of essential goods, particularly food, fuel, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare services.
