Vietnam, Cuba share experience in policymaking

Havana (VNA) – Vietnamese National Assembly Vice Chairman UongChu Luu has met with Vice President of the State Council and Comptroller General of CubaGladys Bejerano Portela and Vice President of the Council of Ministers Marino Murillo as part his working visitto the Caribbean nation.

During the meeting with the Vietnamese legislator, GladysBejerano introduced the operation of the ten-year-old State comptroller and inspectionagency of Cuba, saying that it plays an important role in supervising and regulatingactivities of Cuban government and state agencies, especially state-runenterprises.

She also briefed the guest on the operation of Cuba's administrative andeconomic management and monitoring apparatus in the context of implementing theprocess of updating socio-economic models in the country.

Meanwhile, Marino Murillo, who is also head of the committee forimplementing policies to update socio-economic models, outlined key points inpolicies related to updating Cuba’s socio-economic model, as well as contentsof the country’s new Constitution concerning this long-term developmentstrategy, at his meeting with the Vietnamese official.

He appreciated exchange and experience of Vietnam in both theory and practicefor strategic orientation sand macroeconomic policy making of Cuba.

During the meetings, Luu congratulated Cuba on its approval of the new Constitution,which creating a solid foundation for long-term development in the country.

He expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Cuban Communist Partyand the ideological orientation of historic revolutionary leader Fidel Castro,the Cuban people will successfully implement the process of updating the socio-economicmodel.

The two countries should continue to promote the sharing of experiencein policymaking, and in managing and supervising economic activities, alongwith enhance practical projects, he said.

During the visit which ended on April 30, the Vietnamese NA delegation had aworking session with representatives of the Cuban Ministry of Labour and SocialInsurance, during which the two sides shared their experience in ensuringrights and interest of  labourers and inpromoting social equality.-VNA

NA Standing Committee's key work agenda for 2026 approved

A major focus will be preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th NA and to People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. The NASC will coordinate with the National Election Council, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and relevant agencies and organisations to continue implementing the election plan, organise oversight of the electoral process, and carry out its duties and powers as prescribed.
