Vietnam studies Holland water management experience

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai and his delegation on November 30 visited Holland’s cities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam to learn the localities’ experience and technologies in managing dykes as well as water and waste treatment plants.

This is part of theefforts to realise agreements adopted by the Vietnam – HollandInter-Governmental Committee on climate change adaptation and watermanagement.

During the visit, the delegation was introduced tothe dyke systems protecting the two cities, the Neeltje Jans park inRotterdam and technologies used in water processing and treatmentsystem in Amsterdam .

During his meeting with Mayorof Amsterdam Eberhard Van der Laan, the Deputy PM confirmed that theVietnamese Government encourages the two countries’ cities andlocalities to cooperate in economics, trade and investment.

The Deputy PM applauded the plan of Mayor Eberhard Van der Laan tovisit Vietnam in 2013 on the occasion of the 40 th anniversary ofthe diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Hehoped the Mayor would discuss with leaders of Hanoi cooperativeprogrammes, particular in the fields of water management, energy, wastetreatment, environment, education and urban planning.

The Mayor affirmed that he always supports cooperation between Amsterdam and Vietnamese cities.

As part of his tour to Holland, Deputy PM Hai also visited RoyalPetroleum Group and Damen Shipyards Group, and witnessed the signing of aship building contract between Vietnam’s Song Thu Company and DamenShipyards Group.-VNA
