A seminar on trade exchange opportunities between Vietnam and Uruguaywas held in the capital city of Montevideo on April 26.
Addressing the seminar, Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina andUruguay Nguyen Van Dao spoke of Vietnam ’s economic, trade andinvestment achievements.
The diplomat invitedUruguayan businesses to visit and explore Vietnam’s market to set upmutually beneficial partnerships in the context of important developmentof bilateral political ties, including the Vietnam visit by UruguayanPresident Tabare Vazquez in 2007 and the Uruguay visit in 2009 by StateVice President Nguyen Thi Doan, plus the opening of the Uruguayanembassy in Vietnam late last year.
Mariana Ferreirafrom Uruguay XXI Institute emphasised the fields where Vietnam andUruguay can expand trade exchange in future.
According to Uruguay Customs, two-way trade reached a record 63 million USD last year, a four-fold increase in five years.
Vietnam exports cement, footwear, fish, dried coconut fibre,printers, rubber, suitcases and handbags to Uruguay and importstimber, fish, soybeans and pharmaceutical products.
At the event, documents and video films on Vietnam ’s land, country and business guidance were also shown.-VNA
