Vietnam win 2024 ASEAN Women's Futsal Championship

The Vietnamese women's national futsal team beat their Thai rivals 2-1 in the final match of the 2024 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championships in the Philippines on November 21.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese women's national futsal team beat their Thai rivals 2-1 in the final match of the 2024 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championships in the Philippines on November 21.

Both teams entered the game with the high determination, resulting in a tense first half. Vietnam created several dangerous opportunities, but Thailand's skillful goalkeeper Suksen kept the score at 0-0.

The second half continued to showcase fierce competition, but neither team managed to find the net, leading to extra time.

In extra time, Phuong Anh shined in the 42nd minute with a powerful shot from outside the box, giving Vietnam a 1-0 lead. However, Thailand quickly equalised in the 46th minute when Thanh Ngan scored an own goal in a power play.

Undeterred, Vietnam pressed on and regained the lead in the 48th minute. Phuong Anh struck again, scoring from a close range after a corner kick.

The match ended with a 2-1 victory for Vietnam, not only securing the championship but also highlighting the team's progress and resilience.

Vietnamese player Phuong Anh was honoured as the Top Scorer of the tournament with five goals, while Thanh Hang was voted the Best Player.

Following their victory over Thailand in the final, the Vietnamese women's futsal team received a reward of 600 million VND (approximately 23,600 USD) from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) in recognition of their impressive achievements./.
