Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam is advancing with a strong sense of strategic autonomy, resilience and confidence as it enters a new phase of development, and seeks to exchange experience with India - a rapidly rising major power, said Nguyen Xuan Thang, Chairman of the Central Theory Council and President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics.

Meeting with Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Tshering W. Sherpa on November 25, Thang commended the progress of bilateral cooperation, particularly since the elevation of ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2016. He highlighted the academy’s pride in hosting the India Research Centre, a joint initiative of the two countries’ leaders that underscores Vietnam’s high regard for the relationship.

He noted that Ambassador Sherpa’s tenure begins at a significant moment as both countries prepare to commemorate the 10th anniversary of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and proposed that the two sides co-organise a workshop to review the decade-long cooperation framework.

Ambassador Sherpa said the two countries share a common vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific. He put forward several proposals to deepen cooperation with the academy, including convening a conference to review the 10-year partnership, developing specialised capacity-building programmes, co-publishing a commemorative book, and inviting the academy’s leadership to visit India.

The ambassador reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening collaboration between the academy and Indian partners./.
