Two-way trade between Vietnam and Cambodia in the first four months of the year reached 1.3 billion USD, a 10 percent rise over the same period last year.

According to the Vietnam Commercial Service in Cambodia, Vietnam’s exports to Cambodia fetched over 1 billion USD while its imports were 253 million USD in the four-month period.

Some Vietnamese commodities saw double increases in export turnover, including fruit and vegetables, and fibre.

However, the export turnover of high-value products such as oil and gas, and steel dropped compared to the same period last year.

During the period, Cambodia’s exports to Vietnam slightly increased with such staples as corn, tobacco materials, rubber, and wooden products.

Vietnam is now Cambodia’s second largest trade partner with two-way trade recording 3.3 billion USD in 2012, up 17 percent against the previous year./.
