Vietnam’s first international hospital celebrates 20th anniversary

FV Hospital – the first international one in Vietnam - has been urged to continue providing high-quality medical services for not only local patients but also foreigners who are living and working in Ho Chi Minh City, said Luong Ngoc Khue, Director of the Medical Examination and Treatment Department at the celebration of 20th anniversary of the hospital on April 9.

Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) – FV Hospital – the firstinternational one in Vietnam - has been urged to continue providing high-qualitymedical services for not only local patients but also foreigners who are livingand working in Ho Chi Minh City, said Luong Ngoc Khue, Director of the MedicalExamination and Treatment Department at the celebration of 20thanniversary of the hospital on April 9.

For the last 20 years, the hospital has treated nearly 5 millionpatients, 25% of them foreigners. It has been accredited by the Joint CommissionInternational (JCI) three times.

Currently, the hospital has 230 beds, and 36 specialties withthe capacity of receiving 1,500 patients daily. In 2006, it established acharity fund and invited many of the world's leading surgeons to Vietnam totreat more than 600 disadvantaged children with birth defects.

Duong Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People'sCommittee, acknowledged the contributions by the hospital to the city’shealthcare sector over the years, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Duc said that with the JCI, the hospital creates advantages forthe city as it aims to attract foreigners who come there for both tourism andmedical purposes./.
