Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced that the national football team has climbed three places to 107th in the world and 19th in Asia in the latest FIFA rankings released on December 22.

Notably, Vietnam's national team recorded the biggest leap in this ranking update.

Compared to the previous rankings, Vietnam’s position has improved markedly, reflecting the team’s positive results in recent matches. In particular, the 2–0 victory over Laos in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers earned Vietnam valuable additional points in FIFA’s ranking calculations.

The three-place leap not only helps Vietnam consolidate its standing in Asia but also provides a favourable foundation for upcoming international objectives. Vietnam currently remain among the continent’s more stable teams in terms of world ranking.

In Asia, the top three teams in the latest FIFA rankings remain unchanged, namely Japan (18th in the world), Iran (20th), and the Republic of Korea (22nd).

The improved ranking recognises the collective efforts of the team in competition and professional preparation, and has brought renewed optimism to Vietnamese football fans ahead of the challenges to come./.
