Hanoi (VNA) – The Military Industry and Telecommunications Group (Viettel) has been ranked the world’s strongest telecommunications brand by Brand Finance, the world's leading independent brand valuation and strategy consultancy.

Viettel achieved a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 89.9 out of 100 and was awarded the highest possible AAA+ rating, the firm said on March 13.

The result marks a significant breakthrough for the Vietnamese telecom giant after two consecutive years in the second place, allowing it to officially claim the top position worldwide in brand strength within the telecommunications sector.

Brand Finance notes that brand strength and brand value are distinct indicators. Brand value reflects its financial worth and is closely linked to revenue, profitability, and future growth prospects.

Brand strength, by contrast, measures the level of trust, credibility, and customer loyalty associated with a brand. The index is assessed through consumer surveys and multiple criteria, including reliability, customer preference, the likelihood of choosing the brand, and the willingness of customers to recommend it to others. Strong brand performance plays a significant role in enhancing overall brand value.

In the 2026 rankings, Viettel’s BSI score of 89.9 is the highest recorded among leading telecom brands in the brand strength category over the past three years, demonstrating the strong confidence and loyalty the brand enjoys among customers.

Lorenzo Coruzzi, Director of Valuation at Brand Finance, said Viettel achieved particularly strong results across key research indicators, notably in reputation, trustworthiness, and customers’ willingness to recommend the brand. He noted that the results show Viettel has achieved high brand recognition and has built a strong connection to customers in the marketplace.

In terms of brand value, Viettel is currently valued at 7.9 billion USD, making it the largest telecommunications enterprise in Southeast Asia and one of the world’s top 20 telecom brands. It is also the only Vietnamese company listed in the Global 500 rankings./.
