Vinh Long takes efforts to lure more tourists

The tourism sector of Mekong Delta Vinh Long province has promoted its historical and cultural relic sites and traditional villages along with its strength of eco-tourism in an effort to lure more tourists.

VinhLong is home to over 450 relics, including 10 national-level and 34provincial-level ones. Over the past six months, the sites attractednearly 220,000 visitors.

Luu Hoang Minh, Director of theDepartment of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Information and TourismPromotion Centre, said the provincial tourism authority has updatedinformation and knowledge on historical and cultural sites for itsguides, thus providing better services for visitors.

The centrein collaboration with universities, colleges and relevant agencies hasheld courses on professional skills for them, Minh added.

In2014, the industry targets to welcome 950,000 tourists, including about200,000 foreigners, and rake in 210 billion VND (9.8 million USD) inrevenues.

Located between two major rivers of Tien Giang and HauGiang, Vinh Long province is known for orchards green all year round andthe cannel system which facilitates waterborne travel.-VNA

Japanese retailers step up business activities in Vietnam

Aeon – Japan's largest retail group – plans to increase the number of hypermarkets, also known as "Super Supermarket (SSM)" and general merchandise stores (GMS) in Vietnam from 12 as of February 2025 to about 100 stores by 2030. Another large Japanese group, Sumitomo, also aims o open supermarkets in Vietnam, with about 10 stores per year.

Vietnamese banks have also proactively improved their image and position in the international arena. According to Brand Finance's 2025 rankings, 13 Vietnamese banks are now listed in the Top 500 banks with the highest brand value globally.

In response to these trends, economic experts have recommended Hanoi to implement a range of measures to manage inflation in the coming months. They emphasised the need to strengthen price monitoring of essential goods, particularly food, fuel, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare services.
