Leaders of the Cambodian provinces of Pursat and Kampong Thom made a fact-finding tour of Tien Giang southern province on April 24 to seek opportunities for cooperation.

The visit is one of the activities to commemorate Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2012 and the 45 th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties.

At a working session between Cambodian provincial leaders and local authorities, Nguyen Van Khang, Chairman of Tien Giang Provincial People’s Committee, affirmed the traditional solidarity and friendship between the two countries while informing the Cambodian guests of Tien Giang’s socio-economic and service development.

Last year, the province achieved a GDP growth rate of 10 percent, and attracted 455 million USD in foreign direct investment (FDI), 3.3 times more than in 2010.

Leaders of Pursat and Kampong Thom provinces introduced the two localities’ potential and said they hope to establish investment and business partnerships with Tien Giang.

Tien Giang and Pursat signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in many fields such as rice production, transfer of intensive farming technology, aquaculture, investment promotion and business support.

The Cambodian delegation also visited some key production bases in Tien Giang province.-VNA
