Beijing (VNA) – With a network of bureaus around the world, professionalism, and technological innovation, the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) has become a reputable agency earning broad recognition both in the country and abroad, said Wei Wei, head of the Vietnamese Language Department at the China Media Group (CMG).
Talking to the Vietnam News Agency on the occasion of its 80th anniversary (September 15), he said that over its 80-year history, the VNA has developed a serious, standard, concise, and clear journalistic style that always prioritises the accuracy and depth of information.
Highlighting its widespread bureau network and partnerships with over 40 news agencies and major press organisations around the globe, he noted the VNA provides multimedia news in many languages, and that its reports on Vietnam are widely used and have certain influence in the world.
The VNA is not only a news supplier but also collects information and provides policy advice, Wei went on, adding that through its correspondents globally, the agency has promptly collected and handled important information about Vietnam and the world, serving as a source of useful reference information for the Government’s policymaking and stakeholders in society.
The journalist perceived that VNA bulletins also act as a bridge helping enhance mutual understanding between the Vietnamese and Chinese peoples.
He elaborated that the VNA frequently publishes articles about China’s development, especially economic growth and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. Such information is warmly received by domestic readers, becoming a crucial channel for Vietnamese people to better understand China.
In addition, Wei said, the Chinese edition of the VNA’s e-newspaper is also an important window through which Chinese people can learn more about Vietnam. It updates news about not only Vietnam’s political, economic, and social aspects but also the country’s traditional culture and its interest in international affairs.
Thanks to its professional style, the VNA has established itself as one of the leading channels for the Chinese-speaking community to gain an insight into Vietnam, he opined.
In recent years, press outlets of the two countries have increased exchanges and cooperation, particularly between the VNA and key media organisations of China such as CMG. The two sides have carried out various forms of cooperation, from joint reporting to news sharing. These activities have actively helped foster mutual understanding and traditional friendship between the two countries, according to Wei./.
