Moscow (VNA) – A correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) in Moscow spoke with Andrey Klimov, member of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the United Russia Party (UR), about the significance of cooperation between the two ruling parties and new opportunities expected to emerge following the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

According to Klimov, amid today’s challenges, which increasingly relate to technological development and global issues, Vietnam needs to safeguard its position not only within the region but also to assert itself as a rapidly developing country on the world map. Vietnam currently has a very high rate of production growth, alongside an increasingly diverse range of manufactured goods. Many Vietnamese industries have quickly gained prominence in global markets. Klimov noted that all these achievements stem from the leadership role of the CPV.

The UR official emphasised that the CPV holds a vital role in every aspect of national life. Therefore, the 14th National Congress will not only set the main course for Vietnam’s development but also influence the country’s governance style and administrative approach.

Having been directly involved in promoting relations between the UR and CPV over the past 15 years, as well as through international forums more broadly, Klimov said the potential of ties between the two parties is truly significant. From the Russian perspective, the time has come for both sides to establish a comprehensive bilateral political dialogue based on mutual trust. He suggested that the two parties could regularly organise forums, under party auspices, focusing on economic development issues.

Klimov added that the UR hopes to expand its activities within the broader Eurasian space. The party has already mapped out several near-term steps and expects bilateral cooperation to continue based on inter-party agreements. It is also looking forward to the CPV’s 14th National Congress adopting all necessary decisions and to jointly preparing a new cooperation document for the next phase.

Referring to cooperation beyond the bilateral framework, including the wider Eurasian region, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and forums such as the International Conference of Asian Political Parties, Klimov noted that the positions of the two sides are largely aligned across most areas, and that this convergence should be further developed, supported and strengthened./.
