ADB provides loan to power sector

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has provided loans worth almost 121 million USD as part of Vietnam ’s 730 million USD electricity transmission network programme.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has provided loans worth almost 121million USD as part of Vietnam ’s 730 million USD electricitytransmission network programme.

The loan agreementwas signed in Hanoi on Feb. 10 by Governor of the State Bank ofVietnam Nguyen Van Binh and ADB Vice President Stephen Groff.

The first loan is designed to assist the construction of almost 648kmof 500kV power line and more than 100km of 220kV power line andtransformer stations nationwide.

At the event,Governor Binh said the project is also expected to increase the nationalpower transmission corporation’s management capacity.

ADB Vice President Stephen P Groff said Vietnam has made remarkableprogress in expanding access to power but some rural and mountainousareas have yet to access the national power grid.

Vietnam should supply electricity in a sustainable manner and upgradeelectricity generation and transmission capacity, he said./.

The price of E5 RON92 petrol is now capped at 19,462 VND (0.75 USD) per litre, up 199 VND from the previous adjustment, while RON95-III costs no more than 19,967 VND per litre, up 269 VND.

Regarding the ongoing negotiations on a Reciprocal Trade Agreement between the two countries, he emphasised that Vietnam remains consistent in its approach to the talks with the US, aiming for a bilateral agreement based on respect for sovereignty, independence, political system, harmonisation and balance of interests, as well as in line with international commitments and the development level of each country.
