- Deputy PrimeMinister Tran Luu Quang is scheduled to pay an official visit to Cuba fromApril 14 to 16, aiming to continue reinforcing multifaceted cooperation betweenthe two countries.

Talking to the Vietnam News Agency, VietnameseAmbassador Designate to Cuba Le Quang Long said the visit is taking place amidthe continually enhanced traditional friendship and increasingly substantivecooperation between the two countries. - The 41st sessionof the Vietnam-Cuba Intergovernmental Committee opened in Havana on April 11,seeking ways to expand and diversify bilateral economic relations incommensurate with the traditional political relationship between the twoParties, States, and peoples.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ministerof Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi, who is co-chair of the committee, said thatthe Vietnamese Party, State, and people always remember the special affection,strong support and help from the Cuban Party, State, and people to theSoutheast Asian country’s past struggle for liberation as well as its currentnation building and development. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked the State Bank ofVietnam (SBV) to keep a close watch on international and domestic goldprices, and put in place measuresand tools in a timely and effective way to regulate the gold market in line with regulations.

The move is to ensure that the market operates in astable, healthy, transparent, and efficient manner, and prevent the"goldisation" phenomenon in the national economy, the leader saidwhile chairing a recent meeting on solutions to manage the gold market inthe coming time, the GovernmentOffice said in a notice.  Read full story

- Processing andmanufacturing enterprises have forecast better performance in Quarter 2 despiteglobal headwinds posed by conflicts and high production costs, according to theGeneral Statistics Office (GSO)’s survey.

The GSO said more stringent requirements onquality, production process, information and green production will exertpressure on domestic businesses, but 82% of the surveyed firms expecttheir business will improve from Quarter 1, while only 18% anticipate moredifficulties. Read full story

Truong Sa voters cast early ballots for NA, local council elections

Voters at 20 out of the 22 polling stations in Truong Sa (Spratly) special zone in the central province of Khanh Hoa cast their ballots on March 8 in early voting for deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term, one week ahead of the nationwide election day on March 15.
