- US President Joe Biden will pay a visit to Vietnam fromSeptember 10-11, revealed spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs PhamThu Hang on August 29.

-  Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his visitingSingaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong on August 29 attended a conference inHanoi to discuss measures aimed at speeding up Vietnam-Singapore joint projects.

The event, drawing more than 500 delegates fromministries, sectors, localities and businesses of Vietnam and Singapore, notedthat currently Singapore ranks first among the ASEAN member states and secondamong the 143 countries and territories investing in Vietnam with 3,274 validprojects worth 73.5 billion USD. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Singaporean PrimeMinister Lee Hsien Loong as well as their spouses on August 29 had aconversation with outstanding students from the Vietnam National University -Hanoi (VNU) on various matters.

The students raised issues on education,science-technology and innovation policies of Singapore, the digitaleconomy-green economy partnership between the two countries, as well aspolicies to promote cooperation among universities of Singapore and Vietnam,especially in areas of research, innovation and artificial intelligence. Read full story

- Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son has affirmed the diplomaticsector, under the leadership of the Party, is determined to build a modern,comprehensive and strong diplomacy, contributing to successfully completing theresolution and foreign policy set at the 13th National Party Congress.

In his article on the occasion of the diplomaticsector’s 78th founding anniversary (August 28, 1945-2023), Son wrote that overthe past 78 years, under the leadership of the Party, the sector has inheritedand upheld the cultural identity and diplomatic traditions of the nation, basedon Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought, while absorbing the world'scultural quintessence and progressive ideas.
Thereby, the sector has built aunique and special diplomacy imbued with “Vietnamese bamboo” characters. Read full story

- The book on some theoretical and practical issues onsocialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam by Party General SecretaryNguyen Phu Trong was introduced in Ho Chi Minh City on August 29 on theoccasion of the 78th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945-2023).

The event was jointly held by the HCM City Unionof Friendship Organisations (HUFO), Nguoi Lao dong (Labourers) Newspaper, andthe Su That (Truth) National Political Publishing House in HCM City. Read full story

- Vietnam enjoyed a trade surplus of 20.19 billion USD in thefirst eight months of this year, according to data released by the GeneralStatistics Office (GSO) on August 29.

In the period, the total import-export turnover of goods hit435.23 billion USD, posting a year-over-year decrease of 13.1%. Specifically,export value hit 227.7 billion USD, a fall of 10% year on year and import valuewas down by 16.2% to 207.52 billion USD. Read full story

- Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang on August 29chaired a teleconference with 28 coastal localities on solutions to fightillegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing and make preparations forthe EC’s fourth inspection in October.

He asked the coastal localities to resolutely putan end to illegal fishing by vessels in foreign waters, which serves as adecisive factor for Vietnam to have the yellow card imposed by the EuropeanCommission (EC) on IUU fishing lifted. Read full story

- Vietnam ranked 14th among the best places for expats in theExpat Insider 2023 by InterNations – the largest global expat network with 5million members.

The 2023 edition was conducted based on opinionsof 12,000 expats living in 172 countries and territories. They rated up to 56aspects of expat life such as the local cost of living, the availability ofhousing, their career prospects, the access to high-speed internet at home, andthe quality of health care. Read full story

- Vietnam's total export-import turnover of agro-forestry andaquatic products in the eight months of this year was estimated at 59.69billion USD, reported the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Of the figure, 33.21 billion USD was worth ofexports, down 9.5% annually, but still resulting in a trade surplus of 6.72billion USD./. Read full story

Historical foundation, future momentum for Vietnam–France ties

The historical dialogue between Vietnam and France had at times been very tense, but this process helped the two sides understand and respect each other better. Greater mutual understanding built over time has created conditions for cooperation at many levels today, a French scholar has said.

General Secretary and President To Lam meets Vietnamese community in Russia

In particular, the Politburo recently issued Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW on overseas Vietnamese affairs, General Secretary and President To Lam, emphasising that in the time ahead, the Party and State will continue to improve institutions, and adopt comprehensive, open and breakthrough mechanisms and policies to connect with, attract and effectively mobilise the resources of overseas Vietnamese, particularly intellectuals, experts, entrepreneurs, scientists and young people.

Fresh impetus for Vietnam - France cooperation on new journey

Vietnam-France relations have been nurtured over generations through historical, cultural, educational and scientific ties, as well as extensive people-to-people exchanges. Despite the ups and downs of history, the two countries have successfully built a relationship of friendship, equality and mutual respect, looking towards the future together.

Vietnam-France cooperation hoped to be expanded

Vietnam and France should also build a forward-looking, mutually beneficial partnership in which stronger economic and industrial ties serve as an indispensable foundation, said Dr. Benoît de Tréglodé, Director (Africa - Asia - Middle East) at the Institute of Strategic Research (IRSEM) under the French Ministry of Armed Forces.

Top Vietnamese leader meets Russian Communist Party chief

To deepen the two parties' ties at bilateral and multilateral levels, the top Vietnamese leader proposed both sides effectively follow the agreement on further expanding and deepening inter-Party relations, especially by increasing high-level delegation exchanges and promptly sharing information on each Party's key activities.

Top leader’s upcoming visit to renew vitality of Vietnam-France friendship

Chairman of the France-Vietnam Friendship Association (AAFV) Nguyen Hai Nam said the trip demonstrates that France is truly a special partner of Vietnam in Europe. France can serve as a gateway for Vietnam to access the European Union (EU), while Vietnam can be France’s entry point for deeper engagement with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

General Secretary and President To Lam begins state visit to Russia

As scheduled, the top Vietnamese leader will receive Chairman of the Communist Party of Russia Gennady Ziuganov, the Russian War Veterans’ Association and the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association, and have a meeting with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Russia.

Vietnam's top legislator meets with Democratic Party of Korea leader

Lauding the friendship and sound cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the DPK in recent years, NA President Tran Thanh Man called on both sides to continue effectively following their 2019 cooperation agreement, and foster political trust and mutual understanding by maintaining all-level delegation exchanges and meetings.

Vietnamese NA President holds talks with RoK counterpart

NA President Man urged the RoK legislature to encourage Korean companies to expand investment in Vietnam in priority areas, including infrastructure, semiconductors, large-scale AI data centres, energy and seaports; create favourable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to engage more deeply in the RoK’s manufacturing supply chains.
