Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.
- Top leaders of Vietnam and Laos have agreed to deepen the bilateral relationship with a reinforced framework of “Great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion”, affirming a shared vision, intertwined strategic interests and long-term companionship orientation for the goal of sustainable development, self-reliance and common prosperity of the two peoples.
The agreement was reached at the talks in Vientiane on December 1 between General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) To Lam and General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, held shortly after the official welcome ceremony for the Vietnamese leader, his spouse and the high-level delegation, who are on a two-day state visit to Laos where they will also attend the ceremony marking the 50th National Day of Laos. - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith on December 1 awarded a National Gold Order - the highest honour of Laos - to General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam.
The award aims to recognise the Vietnamese Party leader’s significant contributions to strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and people of Laos and Vietnam. Read full story
- State President Luong Cuong hosted an official welcome ceremony in Hanoi on December 1 morning for Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, who is on a three-day state visit to Vietnam.
Following the welcome ceremony, the two leaders held talks to review the results of cooperation between the two nations in recent times and propose directions for future collaboration. Read full story
- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said Vietnam always attaches great importance to advancing its Comprehensive Partnership with Brunei and hopes that the bilateral ties will continue to develop substantively, bringing concrete benefits and contributing to peace, stability and sustainable development in the region.
At a meeting in Hanoi on December 1 with Sultan of Brunei Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, who is on a state visit to Vietnam, PM Chinh said the visit offers an important opportunity to review progress in bilateral cooperation and set out new directions to elevate the partnership to a higher, more effective level. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted a reception in Hanoi on December 1 for President of Cuba’s Prensa Latina news agency Jorge Legañoa Alonso, who is in Vietnam on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.
PM Chinh conveyed his greetings to First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, Cuban PM Manuel Marrero Cruz, President of the National Assembly of People's Power Lazo Hernández, and other Cuban leaders. Read full story
- Check-in at counters will be available only for passengers with checked baggage or those in special categories from December 1.
All other passengers will complete the full process, including ticket purchase, check-in, security screening, and boarding, via biometric technology application linked to VNeID digital identification and authentication or through self-service kiosk systems at airports. Read full story
- Vietnam’s largest auto distributor Tasco Auto JSC (Tasco Auto) and charging infrastructure provider Esky Energy Investment Service Trading Corporation (Esky Corp) will install over 50 DC fast-charging stations at Tasco showrooms nationwide from early 2026 under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding.
The initial phase will place 50 stations at strategically located Tasco Auto outlets to optimise accessibility for electric vehicle (EV) owners. The next will extend the network to parking lots, service centres and other facilities within the Tasco ecosystem, with the aim of creating one of Vietnam’s largest green mobility networks./.
