Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 26 hosted separate receptions for international guests attending the Autumn Economic Forum 2025, which is underway in Ho Chi Minh City.

Meeting with Managing Director of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Stephan Mergenthaler, PM Chinh thanked Mergenthaler and WEF for their support in organising the Autumn Economic Forum, noting that the Managing Director’s address added energy and substance to the event. Read full story

- The 15th National Assembly (NA) on November 26 adopted four laws – the Law on Extradition, the Law on the Transfer of Persons Serving Prison Sentences, the Law on Mutual Judicial Assistance in Civil Matters, and the Law on Mutual Judicial Assistance in Criminal Matters.

With 426 out of the 430 deputies present voting in favour (89.87%), the NA passed the Law on Extradition, which consists of four chapters and 45 articles. It outlines principles, authority, conditions, and procedures for extradition between Vietnam and other countries, as well as the responsibilities of Vietnamese state agencies. Read full story

- Vietnam stands ready to engage in effective cooperation with all international partners on the principle of “harmonised interests and shared risks”, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated on November 26 at the opening and plenary sessions of the Autumn Economic Forum 2025.

Themed “Green Transition in the Digital Era”, the forum, is jointly organised from November 24-30 by Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the World Economic Forum (WEF). It features a series of key events from November 25-27 and brings together more than 1,500 domestic and international delegates. Read full story

- The Government and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) jointly held a ceremony in Hanoi on November 26 to mark 50 years of Vietnam–UNICEF cooperation and 35 years since the country ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).

In 1990, Vietnam was the first in Asia and the second in the world to ratify the CRC – the most widely ratified human-rights treaty in history, with 196 state parties. Read full story

- Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc on November 25 signed Official Dispatch No. 228/CD-TTg on processing support policies and insurance benefit payments for residents and businesses affected by the recent exceptionally severe flooding in the central region.

According to the dispatch, the central region has experienced exceptionally heavy rainfall and flooding in recent days, combined with high tides. Water levels on several rivers broke records, causing widespread inundation, severe damage to lives, property, crops, livestock and socio-economic infrastructure, and significantly disrupting local livelihoods and business activities. - Vietnam is taking bold steps to prepare its young generation for a digital future, and UNICEF is proud to be a long-standing partner in this journey, said UNICEF Representative in the country Silvia Danailov.

She made the comment during an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency ahead of a series of activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam – UNICEF cooperation and the 35th anniversary of Vietnam’s ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Read full story

- The Government has issued Resolution No. 380/NQ-CP dated November 25, 2025, on measures to address the consequences of natural disasters and restore production in the central localities.

The resolution specifies that the highest priority is to protect lives and health and quickly stabilise people’s livelihoods. No one should be left without shelter, go hungry or suffer from cold; schoolchildren must not be deprived of access to schools; the sick must not be left without medical care and essential services. - Vietnam’s healthcare system has made significant strides towards international standards over the past decade, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan said at a conference on November 25, marking 10 years of systematic quality improvements.

The event, organised by the Medical Services Administration under the Ministry of Health, reviewed the implementation of the National Action Programme to enhance the capacity for medical examination and treatment quality management from 2015 to 2025. Read full story

- “Mua do” (Red Rain), directed by Dang Thai Huyen, has won the Golden Lotus Award for feature film – the most prestigious category of the Vietnam Film Festival, at the 24th edition of the event, which closed in Ho Chi Minh City on November 25.

The film also secured several other accolades, including the best visual effects, best supporting actor, and best sound. Read full story

- Vietnam has been listed among the world’s top 50 countries with the highest music copyright revenue, and among the top 10 digital-revenue markets in the Asia–Pacific region, according to the Vietnam Centre for Protection of Music Copyright (VCPMC).

The announcement follows the official release of the Global Collections Report 2025 by the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC). The report provides a comprehensive analysis of 2024 copyright revenue data compiled from 228 collective management organisations across 111 countries and territories./. Read full story

Frigate 015 – Tran Hung Dao concludes visit to RoK

Nhon Trach 3 and 4 thermal power plants reflect Vietnam’s determination, expertise: PM

The Nhon Trach 3 and 4 power thermal plants, invested by Petrovietnam Power Corporation, have a total investment of around 1.4 billion USD. With a combined capacity of 1,624 MW, the plants are expected to supply over 9 billion kWh annually once fully operational, adding substantial baseload power to the system, particularly in the southern region.

Vietnamese, Lao foreign ministers hold online talks
