Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 25 attended the Vietnam–Japan local cooperation forum held in Quang Ninh province, where he called on Japanese prefectures and enterprises to continue trusting and supporting Vietnam on its development journey, contributing to the prosperity of both nations and their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The event brought together leaders and representatives of nearly 50 localities from both countries, alongside ministries, agencies, businesses and experts. Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi sent a congratulatory message to the forum. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 25 had separate meetings with representatives from Gunma prefecture and the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance (JVPFA), and a delegation of Japanese local officials, who are in Vietnam to attend the Vietnam–Japan Local Cooperation Forum in Quang Ninh province.

Meeting Yamamoto Ichita, Governor of Gunma prefecture, which is home to 56 businesses investing in Vietnam, and a Vietnamese community of around 16,000 people, PM Chinh expressed his appreciation for Ichita’s attendance at the forum - the first large-scale initiative to promote local cooperation between the two countries. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on people across the country to provide greater assistance for south-central localities affected by recent floods while addressing the opening ceremony of the “Great National Unity – Vietnamese Cultural Heritage" Week 2025 in Hanoi on November 24.

The event began with a report highlighting the severe devastation caused by recent floods in the central and Central Highlands regions. The footage showed heartbreaking losses across the four provinces of Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Gia Lai and Dak Lak with 102 people dead or missing; 332 homes collapsed or swept away; 933 houses damaged; and more than 82,000 hectares of rice and crops destroyed. Initial estimates place total economic losses at over 13 trillion VND ($492.87 million). Read full story

- Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang and Acting Managing Director for Asia and the Pacific of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Paola Pampaloni co-chaired the 6th session of the Vietnam - EU Joint Committee in Brussels on November 24 to realise the Vietnam–EU Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA).

Pampaloni opened the session by extending condolences to Vietnam over recent storm and flood damage. The EU has provided 850,000 EUR in humanitarian aid and is pressing member states for additional contributions. Luxembourg, Germany and the Czech Republic have already responded, with Luxembourg’s first relief shipment landing in Vietnam, she said. Read full story

- Ho Chi Minh City’s Relief Mobilisation Board has received close to 245 billion VND (9.3 million USD) in cash donations and more than 136 billion VND worth of goods from agencies, organisations, enterprises and local residents to aid those affected by natural disasters, the municipal Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee said on November 24.

To date, the city has allocated 190.6 billion VND and over 136.2 billion VND in goods for relief efforts. This includes 430 million VND for disaster-hit households within the city; 3.17 billion VND transferred to provinces as requested by donors; and 187 billion VND together with more than 136.2 billion VND in goods for localities suffering severe losses. - The Vietnam Railways Corporation transported 15,334 packages of essential supplies to flood-hit communities across the south-central region from October 10 to November 24.

To ensure the aid reached affected areas quickly and safely, the corporation prioritised loading relief goods onto luggage wagons attached to North–South passenger trains, as well as fast-schedule freight trains running along the same route. Trains departed from major stations in the South, including Saigon and Song Than, and from northern hubs such as Hanoi and Giap Bat, carrying essential items such as food, medicine, clothing, school supplies, and other necessities. - Despite recent unfavourable weather conditions in several Vietnamese localities, Russian travel companies reported no cancellations or reductions in tour bookings to Vietnam, indicating that the country remains a highly attractive destination for Russian holidaymakers.

According to One Click Travel, which serves a large number of clients vacationing in Nha Trang, the situation in the city centre remains stable, with tourism infrastructure operating normally and accommodation facilities continuing to receive guests. Short-term flooding affected some suburban residential areas, but tourist zones were largely unaffected. Read full story

- The Vietnam Export Promotion Forum 2025, scheduled for November 26 in Hanoi, will be hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) to provide strategic directions for exporters as they navigate a rapidly changing global landscape.

Frigate 015 – Tran Hung Dao concludes visit to RoK

Nhon Trach 3 and 4 thermal power plants reflect Vietnam’s determination, expertise: PM

The Nhon Trach 3 and 4 power thermal plants, invested by Petrovietnam Power Corporation, have a total investment of around 1.4 billion USD. With a combined capacity of 1,624 MW, the plants are expected to supply over 9 billion kWh annually once fully operational, adding substantial baseload power to the system, particularly in the southern region.

Vietnamese, Lao foreign ministers hold online talks

The two ministers agreed to maintain close coordination in the time ahead and to expand cooperation under the new framework and orientation, underscoring the significance of the two countries’ “great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, strategic cohesion”.
