– Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Sonreceived the visiting Secretary of the Communist Party of China Committee ofChina’s Yunnan province, Wang Ning, in Hanoi on March 28.
Both host and guest highly valued the progress inthe Vietnam - China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, especiallyin politics, economy, trade, and investment, saying the official visit to Chinaby General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong inOctober 2022 was an important milestone opening up a new development period forrelations between the two Parties and the two countries. – Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen HongDien discussed measures to promote economic and trade ties between Vietnam andChina’s Yunnan province, while meeting with Secretary of the Yunnan PartyCommittee Wang Ning in Hanoi.

– Four Japanese banks - the Japan Bank for InternationalCooperation (JBIC), Mizuho Bank, Joyo Bank, and Shiga Bank - will co-finance atotal of 300 million USD in credit lines to power producers using renewableenergy in Vietnam to help the growing Southeast Asian country decarbonize,according to the Nikkei Asia.
The banks will provide funds through the Joint Stock CommercialBank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) which will in turn providesubleasing loans, mainly to local businesses. Read full story
– Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea (RoK)Han Duck-soo hosted a reception in Seoul on March 29 for Vietnamese Minister ofNational Defence Gen. Phan Van Giang who is on an official visit to the RoK atan invitation of his Korean counterpart Lee Jong-sup.

– Vietnam’s gross domestic product (GDP) hasgrown about 3.32% year on year in the first quarter of 2023, according to theGeneral Statistics Office (GSO).
