Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

– A grand parade took place at the ceremony celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day at the historic Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi on September 2 morning, stirring deep emotions in the hearts of all Vietnamese people.

The parade comprised military and police formations marching in unison across the historic square, accompanied by large-scale displays of weapons, equipment, aircraft, and naval vessels at sea, set to resounding military music under autumn skies filled with fluttering red flags and yellow stars. – Party General Secretary To Lam met with Party General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith in Hanoi on September 2 as the latter came to Vietnam to attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945–2025) and National Day (September 2, 1945–2025).

General Secretary Lam welcomed the Lao Party and State leader for leading a high-ranking delegation to the celebration, describing it as a testament to the rare, loyal, and special solidarity between the two Parties and nations. – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Zhao Leji, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China, in Hanoi on September 2, during which he affirmed that developing relations with China is an objective necessity, a strategic and natural choice, and a top priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy.

PM Chinh thanked Chairman Zhao for leading a high-ranking Chinese delegation to attend Vietnam’s 80th National Day celebration and for sending a military contingent to join the parade held on this occasion, which, he said, demonstrates the special sentiments and the great importance that the Chinese Party and State attach to the relations with Vietnam as well as to its revolutionary cause. – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with visiting First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez in Hanoi on September 2.

PM Chinh warmly welcomed the Cuban leader's state visit and participation in activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of Vietnam, noting that the trip coincides with the 65th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Cuba. During a meeting with Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba, NA Chairman Man warmly welcomed his return visit to Vietnam and participation in the country’s grand National Day celebration in the context of the two countries marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 – 2025). Two military officers promoted to rank of Senior Lieutenant General
