- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam hosted a reception in Hanoi on August 31 for Zhao Leji, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China.

Zhao is paying an official visit to Vietnam where he will also attend a ceremony celebrating the 80th anniversary of August Revolution and Vietnam’s National Day (September 2) and co-chair the first session of the cooperation committee between Vietnamese National Assembly and the Chinese NPC. - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on August 31 met with General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping as part of his working trip to Tianjin to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2025.

PM Chinh conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes from Party General Secretary To Lam, State President Luong Cuong, and other high-ranking Vietnamese leaders to General Secretary and President Xi and Chinese leaders. He thanked China for sending a high-ranking delegation and a military contingent to Vietnam for attendance at the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, and the 80th anniversary of National Day. - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Nepalese counterpart Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli have expressed their wish to further strengthen the long-standing friendship and sound cooperation that the two countries have nurtured over the past five decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations.

At their meeting in Tianjin on August 31 on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2025, PM Sharma Oli voiced his admiration for Vietnam’s remarkable progress since the liberation of the South and national reunification in 1975, saying Nepal is keen to learn from Vietnam’s successful experience in national construction and development. - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on August 31 held working sessions with leaders of leading Chinese corporations in the fields of energy, infrastructure, electric vehicles and banking in Tianjin, as part of his working trip to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2025.

At the meetings, both sides reviewed the progress of previously agreed projects and identified tasks to further strengthen cooperation through specific programmes, projects and timelines. Discussions covered support for Vietnam’s energy ecosystem and transition to green transport, financial backing for Vietnam’s connection to the ASEAN power grid, and enhancing transport links with China. - Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) of China Zhao Leji right after hosting an official welcome ceremony for the latter in Hanoi on August 31.

Chairman Man welcomed Chairman Zhao, who is paying an official visit to Vietnam where he will also attend a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of August Revolution and National Day on September 2, and co-chair the first session of the cooperation committee between the Vietnamese NA and the Chinese NPC. - First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, accompanied by his spouse Lis Cuesta Peraza, arrived in Hanoi on August 31 morning for a state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and his spouse.

16th NA’s first extraordinary session seeks to create new development space

The committee will take up 25 draft laws and resolutions, including the revised Penal Code, the revised Law on Organisation of Criminal Investigation Agencies, and the review of the draft law amending Article 6 and Appendix IV on conditional business sectors and lines under the Law on Investment, among others.
