During the reception, General Secretary Lam warmly welcomed Speaker Gerry Brownlee and the delegation from the New Zealand Parliament, emphasising the significance of the visit as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and New Zealand (1975–2025) and the celebration of Vietnam's 80th National Day (September 2). - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has welcomed Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives (Parliament) Gerry Brownlee’s ongoing Vietnam visit, which coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

During a reception in Hanoi on August 28 for the New Zealand guest, PM Chinh praised the substantive and comprehensive progress in bilateral ties since the upgrade to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon’s official visit to Vietnam in February 2025, saying that it opens up a new chapter in their relations. - Zhao Leji, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), is set to lead a high-ranking delegation of the Chinese Party and State to pay an official visit to Vietnam from August 31 to September 2.

According to a release from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 28, during the trip, Zhao will attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of Vietnam (September 2), and co-chair the first session of the cooperation committee between the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) and the NPC. - On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day, Uch Leang, Acting Director of the Asia-Africa and Middle East Research Department at the Cambodia Institute of International Relations under the Royal Academy of Cambodia (RAC), published an article in Khmer Times praising Vietnam’s achievements.

In his article, he stressed that the victory of the August Revolution in 1945 was a turning point that opened the era of national independence linked with socialism, while also inspiring liberation movements in Cambodia, Laos, and many other countries. Once dependent, the Vietnamese became masters of their own destiny. Read full story

- The Green Economics Institute and the Vietnam–Cuba Intergovernmental Committee held a bilateral working session and launched the Vietnam – Cuba biotechnology network in Hanoi on August 28.

Speaking at the launch, Duong Thi Bich Diep, Vice President of the institute, said the network was established to connect research institutes, universities, hospitals, and enterprises of the two countries, focusing on research, training, technology transfer, production, and commercialisation of biological products. She noted that this is an important step to bring scientific and technological achievements directly into service of sustainable agriculture, health care, and people’s well-being. Read full story
