– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, head of the National Steering Committee on International Integration, chaired a conference in Hanoi on August 26 to launch the committee, review the international integration work and set out future directions and tasks.

In his remarks, the PM urged members of the Steering Committee to uphold the highest sense of responsibility in their roles, ensuring the committee meets the goals set out in the Party’s resolutions and the State’s policies on international integration. Read full story

– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on August 26 called on Samsung Group from the Republic of Korea (RoK) to continue to expand investment in Vietnam, especially in the fields of high technology and research and development (R&D).

– Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore Albert Chua co-chaired the 17th Vietnam–Singapore Political Consultation in Hanoi on August 26.

The two sides reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation and discussed ways to implement agreements in key areas reached by the two countries' senior leaders, especially following the upgrade of the bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the historic visit of Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse to Singapore in March. – Vietnam’s achievements over 80 years of development give the country a powerful springboard for the next stage of its journey to realise the ambition of becoming a high-income, green, and inclusive economy by 2045, Mariam J. Sherman, World Bank (WB) Division Director for Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, has said.

In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025), the WB official said Vietnam’s progress since the “Doi moi” (renewal) process in 1986 is one of the world’s most remarkable development stories – from one of the poorest in the world to a vibrant middle-income economy in four decades. – The Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on August 26 requested the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment to take dyke protection measures to ensure safety in response to flooding.

Heavy rains have caused rising water levels in the Tich, Bui, and Day rivers in Hanoi. As of 5 pm on August 26, the water level at Yen Duyet station on the Bui River reached 6.34m (0.34m above the alert level 1), while at Vinh Phuc station on the Tich river, it stood at 7.45m (0.55m below the alert level 3), with forecasts indicating further rises. – A press centre was inaugurated in Hanoi on August 26 as part of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - 2025) and the National Day (September 2, 1945 - 2025).

The press centre will coordinate and guide media activities for nearly 1,500 domestic and foreign journalists covering the National Day celebration. It will also provide official information, facilitate reporting, and handle press-related requests. Read full story

– The border guard command in the northwestern province of Lao Cai has coordinated with the Honghe border management unit, the Hekou entry-exit inspection station in China’s Yunnan province, to conduct joint law enforcement patrols along the shared border.

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.
