ASEAN community support earthquake victims in Mexico
The ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC) on October 6 handed over a cheque worth 50,000 peso (2,800 USD) to the Mexico Red Cross to support victims of two historical earthquakes on September 7 and 19 in the country’s central southwest region.

ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC) on October 6 handed over a cheque worth
50,000 peso (2,800 USD) to the Mexico Red Cross to support victims of two
historical earthquakes on September 7 and 19 in the country’s central southwest
region.
The money was sourced from the ACMC fund,
raised from ASEAN Bazaar activities.
Speaking at the event, Malaysian Ambassador to Mexico Mohammad Azhar Mazlan extended the sympathies of the Governments and people of ASEAN countries to the victims’ families. He expressed his belief that the Mexican people will overcome difficulties to soon stabilise their lives.

The two earthquakes killed at least 459 people
and made 250,000 others homeless. They also destroyed 150,000 buildings,
including 12,930 schools and 1,500 cultural and historical works.-VNA
