The locality ranked 6th in the top 10 cities and provinces with the best Provincial Competitiveness Index score in 2023, and 8th in the Provincial Green Index.
It has defined improving the business and investment environment as a key task, while purusing sustainable development of businesses is a foundation to promote the local socio-economic development.
To date, the provincial departments and sectors have cut the time for handling administrative procedures, thus facilitating business investment.
In 2023, local authorities engaged in dialogue with businesses, receiving and addressing 35 petitions related to land, the environment, minerals, taxes, land rent, administrative reform, policy guidelines, and procedures. Of these, 31 petitions received documented responses.
Additionally, a special task group was established in 2023 and has since handled over 60 petitions.
In the first nine months of 2024, Ba Ria – Vung Tau authorities granted new registration certificates to over 1,380 enterprises with a total registered capital of nearly 15 trillion VND (over 604 million USD), exceeding 1% year-on-year in both the number of enterprises and value of investment.
Domestic investment attraction in the period surpassed 160% of the set plan and increased by 3.5 times over the same period last year.
The province also attracted 48 foreign-invested projects worth 1.9 billion USD in January-September. It is now home to nearly 490 FDI projects worth over 33 billion USD, and more than 690 domestic ones worth 400 trillion VND (16.2 billion USD)./.
