Bamboo Airways will launch new direct flights from Hanoi, Hai Phong and Vinh to Con Dao from September 29. Tickets on the routes go on sale from midnight on September 12.

Hanoi (VNA) - Bamboo Airways will launch new direct flights from Hanoi,Hai Phong and Vinh to Con Dao from September 29. Tickets on the routes are expected to go onsale from 0:00 on September 10.

At a press conference held in Hanoi on September 9, Nguyen Ngoc Trong, Deputy GeneralDirector of Bamboo Airways, said the airline planned to operate the routestwice a day from Hanoi to Con Dao and Vinh to Con Dao plus one daily flightfrom Hai Phong to Con Dao route. The frequency on the routes would be graduallyincreased depending on demand.

“The launch of the new direct routes would not only offer opportunities forpassengers from the localities in the northern and central regions to fly to ConDao with different schedules and services, but also make a practical contributionto the post-pandemic tourism market stimulus,” Trong said.

In addition, the new routes are expected to create new momentum to attractinvestment and enhancing links between Con Dao and important destinations,thereby contributing to making Con Dao a tourist paradise with regional andinternational stature.

Nguyen Manh Quan, deputy general director of Bamboo Airways said the air fareswould be flexible with many price ranges and would be regulated according tomarket supply and demand. The prices are based on regulations of aviationauthorities on a ceiling price basis so that all passengers can access thefare. The lowest price offered by Bamboo Airways is only 1.6 million VND onone-way direct flight from Hanoi to Con Dao.

Quan said the airline would use the new generation Embraer E195 jet aircraft onthe new routes, which they expect to be delivered later this month in time forthe first flight.

Bamboo Airways would become the first airline in Vietnam operating this modernaircraft.

The Embraer E195 jet has a maximum speed of 871 kilometres per hour, a maximumrange of 4,260 kilometres, averaging approximately two hours and 10 minutes totake passengers from Hanoi to Con Dao.

He added that Bamboo Airways would use six Embraer E195 planes. The airlinewould increase the frequency when Tan Son Nhat International Airport completesrepair work to meet with travel demand.

The airline also aims to open new air routes Phu Quoc-Rach Gia, HCM City-Ca Mau,Da Nang-Dien Bien and Da Nang-Con Dao in the fourth quarter this year.

FLC Group – the parent group of Bamboo Airways proposed the Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinceand Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) approved funding to install lights atCon Dao Airport, to allow the airport to increase flight capacity during thenight.

In 2019, Con Dao welcomed nearly 400,000 tourists, an increase of 37 percentcompared to 2018. After the period of social distance in early 2020, datashowed the frequency of flights between HCM City and Can Tho to and from ConDao was in the fastest recovery group./.
