Bangladesh has appointed its Ambassador to Indonesia Nazmul Quaunine as the first ambassador of the country to ASEAN.
Bangladesh has appointed its Ambassador to Indonesia Nazmul Quaunine as the first ambassador of the country to ASEAN.

The ambassador presented his Letter of Credence to ASEAN Secretary-General Le Luong Minh in Jakarta on May 6.

Congratulating Quaunine on his new role, Secretary-General Minhstressed that the ambassador could play an important role in forgingcooperation between ASEAN and Bangladesh as well as within theframework of ASEAN-South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation(SAARC).

Secretary-General Minh briefed the Bangladeshi Ambassador on the progress of the ASEAN Community building.

For his part, Ambassador Quaunine stressed Bangladesh’s growinginterest in strengthening close relations with ASEAN, especially indeveloping the east-west economic corridor which passes throughBangladesh, Myanmar and the rest of ASEAN member states.

He said that his country is exploring economic growth areas along itsborders with India and Myanmar which will serve as gateways toASEAN.-VNA
