Blue chip gains boost indices

Onthe Hochiminh Stock Exchange, despite the morning trading closing inthe red, the VN-Index added 3.55 points or 0.67 percent on May 19.

Manystocks of the property sector rose to their ceiling prices, such as theTan Tao Group (ITA) which rose by 6.7 percent; the FLC Group (FLC)which added 6 percent; and the Hoang Quan Corporation (HQC) which gained6.8 percent.

The stocks of the property sector also led thesouthern bourse by trading volume on May 19. FLC ranked first with 12.7million of its shares changing hands, followed by ITA and HQC.

Large-capstocks were also the major supporters of the market. With 21 codesending higher, the VN30-Index, tracking the southern bourse's top stocksby capitalisation and liquidity, advanced by 1.27 percent to reach589.31 points.

The Hoa Sen Group (HSG) too gained 6.9percent to end at its ceiling price of 46,700 VND, or 2.2 USD, on May19 after its management board asked the shareholders' opinions aboutincreasing the foreign stake at the firm to 60 percent.

The otherbig gainers included the Hoa Phat Group (HPG), Vingroup (VIC), theSouthern Rubber Corporation (CSM), Vinamilk (VNM) and the Masan Group(MSN).

In the VN30 package, seven codes posted losses, includingHoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG), the Ho Chi Minh City Infrastructure InvestmentCorporation (CII), Gemadept (GMD) and the Vinh Son Song HinhHydroelectric Corporation (VSH).

Foreign investors poured 158.6billion VND, or 7.5 million USD, into the Ho Chi Minh City Exchange onMay 19, keeping their focus on the large-cap stocks.

Overall, onthe southern bourse, there were 163 gainers and 68 losers. The tradingvolume reached 106.1 million shares, worth 1.52 trillion VND, or 72.3million USD.

On the Hanoi Exchange, the HNX-Index gained 0.46percent to end at 72.64 points, while the HNXFF-Index, tracking stockswith a minimum free float rate of 5 percent, added 0.47 percent to closeat 73.12 points.

Tracking the performance of the northernbourse' top stocks, the HNX30-Index advanced 0.8 percent or 1.12 pointsto reach 142.09 points.

With more than 58.4 million shares being traded, the trading value reached 484.9 billion VND, or 23 million USD.-VNA

Vietjet shifts domestic check-in at Tan Son Nhat from January 13

During the recent New Year 2026 holiday peak, Vietjet added 380 flights, equivalent to nearly 78,000 additional seats, on many key domestic routes linking Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with destinations such as Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang and Da Lat.
