Shares on both stock exchanges kept rising on April 25, but trading continued to be sluggish.

The benchmark VN-Index on the HCM Stock Exchange climbed 0.78 percent to finish the session at 476.59 points, while the VN30 (measuring the top 30 shares by market capitalisation and liquidity) jumped over 1 percent to 537.23 points.

Advancers outnumbered decliners by 126-79.

Market volume increased 10 percent from the previous session, totalling over 37 million shares, but the value of trades decreased 10 percent to just 564 billion VND (26.9 million USD).

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index also rose 0.72 percent to a close of 58.69 points but the total value of trades remained low at just 194.4 billion VND (9.3 million USD).

Sai Gon-Hanoi Bank (SHB) was the most active code by the end of the session with more than 3.1 million shares changing hands, edging up 1.54 percent at 6,600 VND a share.

Foreign investors increased their buys on both markets, picking up shares worth a combined 39.7 billion VND (1.9 million USD).-VNA
