Hanoi (VNA) – The Embassy of Vietnam in Brazil has held a ceremony marking the 96th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 – 2026).
Speaking at the event on February 3, Ambassador Bui Van Nghi stressed that this year’s celebration of the Party’s 96th founding anniversary holds profound significance for the Party, the State and the people of Vietnam. It also provides an opportunity to share with international friends, including partners and friends in Brazil, the Party’s role in Vietnam’s revolution and national development in recent years, while helping them gain a clearer understanding of the Party’s development vision, strategic orientations and political resolve, as well as those of the entire Vietnamese nation, in the new period following the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).
The ambassador highlighted key outcomes in the implementation of the Resolution adopted by the CPV’s 13th National Congress for the 2021–2025 period. Vietnam has maintained macroeconomic stability, recorded average annual GDP growth of around 6.3%, with GDP in 2025 surpassing 510 billion USD, while per capita income exceeded 5,000 USD and the economic structure continued to shift towards modernisation.
The Vietnamese diplomat underlined that the success of the 14th National Congress marked a decisive political milestone, opening a “new era of national rise” for Vietnam. He noted that the congress elected a new Party Central Committee, with Party General Secretary To Lam re-elected with unanimous support. The congress set the goal of turning Vietnam into a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income by 2030, and outlined a vision of becoming a developed, high-income nation by 2045. It also set targets for average GDP growth of around 10% per year during 2026–2030 and per capita GDP of about 8,500 USD by 2030.
On foreign affairs, the ambassador affirmed that Vietnam will continue to pursue an independent and self-reliant foreign policy, remain a reliable friend and responsible partner of the international community, and seek to expand substantive cooperation with Latin American countries, including Brazil, for the tangible benefit of their people.
Addressing the ceremony, Luciana Santos, Minister of Science and Technology and President of the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB), congratulated Vietnam on the success of the 14th National Congress of the CPV, describing it as a particularly important political milestone that clearly demonstrates the Party’s unity, strength and leadership role in the cause of socialism building. She noted that with 96 years of development and growth and more than 5.6 million Party members at present, the CPV is regarded by the PCdoB as a symbol of revolutionary heroism, anti-imperialist spirit, and independent, self-reliant and steadfast development.
Santos expressed her appreciation for the ambitious strategic goals set by the 14th National Congress for the 2030–2045 period, associated with high economic growth and the building of a prosperous and strong nation, while highlighting the close friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the CPV and the PCdoB as an important pillar for strengthening political trust and solidarity between the two peoples./.
