Phnom Penh (VNA) - The Cambodian Government will establish an Inter-Ministerial Task Force Committee to fight online scam operations following widespread criticism of alleged large-scale cyber-scams in the country.
The decision, announced on February 24, said the committee is led by Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and 24 other cabinet members.
The committee has a secretariat with six specialised working groups focusing on investigation, information technology, law enforcement, international cooperation, media and public relations, general affairs, and a special intervention unit.
On February 22 and 23, authorities dismantled two illegal online rings in the Cambodian northwestern province of Poipet, arresting 230 foreign nationals involved in unlawful online transactions./.
