Hang Soth, Deputy SecretaryGeneral of the Preah Vihear National Authority, said Thai authoritiesasked to delay the opening when a bilateral meeting on Nov. 30 failed toreach agreement on the sharing of temple entry fees as well as allowingThai vendors at a Cambodian market nearby the temple.

The bordergate has been closed since July 2008, when Preah Vihear temple wasenlisted as a World Heritage site, an action that triggered a militarybuild-up along the border and periodic clashes between Cambodian andThai soldiers./.
