Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen has announced that the National Election in 2018 will be held on Sunday of the 4th week of July as scheduled, according Cambodian Press Agency (AKP).

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge at Takhmao, Kandal province on August 3, Hun Sen said the date has been set in order to allow the newly established political parties to have enough time to get themselves ready.

The PM also expressed his optimism that there will be no more post-election protest because the new election law states that if a political party protests against the election results, it will lose the National Assembly seats they win to other political parties.

Recently, a few new political parties have been formed, including the Grassroots Democracy Party (GDP), Beehive Democratic Society Party, and Khmer Power Party.-VNA
