Da Nang (VNA) – The Vietnam – Republic of Korea (RoK) Festival 2025 officially kicked off at East Sea Park in the central city of Da Nang on August 1, part of activities to celebrate the 33rd founding anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic ties.

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Tran Chi Cuong stated that the festival builds on the success of the previous editions and marks an important milestone ushering in a new era of cooperation between Da Nang and RoK partners.

This year’s event features a wide range of activities, aiming to deepen ties between the two countries in economy, trade, tourism, science and technology, culture, and people-to-people exchange, he said.

Cuong stressed that in just the first seven months of 2025, Da Nang welcomed over 1 million Korean visitors, reinforcing its position as the most favourite destination of Korean tourists in Vietnam. On this occasion, the city also held a ceremony to welcome the one-millionth Korean visitor this year.

Chang Ho-Seung, Minister-Counsellor and Consul General of the RoK, said Da Nang is emerging as a key growth hub in Vietnam across various sectors, including economy, trade, logistics, and tourism.

The diplomat highlighted remarkable achievements in the Vietnam – RoK relationship over the past three decades, stressing that with over 500,000 Vietnamese and Korean people living in each other's countries, they form a solid bridge for strengthening bilateral cooperation. By 2024, Da Nang was home to around 335 Korean-invested projects with a total registered capital of approximately 2.2 billion USD.

Chang stated that the Embassy and Consulate General of the RoK in Vietnam will continue to support friendly relations and local-level cooperation between the two countries. He expressed his hope that the festival will help deepen mutual understanding, goodwill, and closer bonds between their peoples.

The three-day event features a wide range of activities, including 80 booths showcasing cultural highlights, products, and services from both countries; an exhibition on bilateral cooperation achievements; cultural experience zones; Taekwondo classes; Vietnamese – Korean cooking sessions; K-pop dance and martial arts performances; and nightly art shows with troupes from both nations./.
