Singapore (VNA) – Two more people have died of dengue fever in Singapore, bringing the total number of dengue fatalities so far this year to seven, according to the National Environment Agency (NEA) of Singapore.

The total number of dengue cases in Singapore this year has exceeded 6,000, more than double the same period in 2019. The number of weekly cases remains high, between 300-400 per week.

The agency warned the number of cases in 2020 is projected to surpass that in 2019 unless immediate measures are taken.

The NEA has advised people to take measures to stop mosquitoes from breeding.

Previously, the NEA called for strengthened measures in the community to curb the disease, while applying social distancing from April 7 to June 1 to prevent the COVID-19 virus from spreading./.
