Representatives from the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry and French businesses pledged to facilitate Vietnamese enterprises’ operations in France during a workshop on September 14 in Paris.

The event was jointly hosted by the Trade Office under the Vietnamese Embassy in France and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

In his speech to open the workshop, Trade Consellor at the Vietnamese Embassy Nguyen Canh Cuong highlighted the potential for Vietnamese enterprises in the local market thanks to the Vietnam-European Union (EU) Free Trade Agreement (VEFTA).

He also underlined the contributions of the traditional practice and customs to facilitating access to investment opportunities in the host country.

The Vietnamese diplomat suggested that Vietnamese firms actively participate in France-based trade promotion events to connect with potential partners.

The host affirmed that the EU attached significance to the trade relationship with Vietnam via the VEFTA and considered the country the foundation to promote its relations with the Southeast Asian region.

French experts noted that Vietnamese enterprises need to improve their product quality to enhance their competitiveness.

Representatives of the Vietnam-Cambodia-Laos-France (VCL – France Business Club), with nearly 2,000 members from 42 countries, also expressed their willingness to support Vietnamese firms in the country.

Vietnam has enjoyed trade surplus with France in five consecutive years, with its average annual export turnover of 2-2.5 billion EUR or an annual growth of 5-7 percent.-VNA

Japanese retailers step up business activities in Vietnam

Aeon – Japan's largest retail group – plans to increase the number of hypermarkets, also known as "Super Supermarket (SSM)" and general merchandise stores (GMS) in Vietnam from 12 as of February 2025 to about 100 stores by 2030. Another large Japanese group, Sumitomo, also aims o open supermarkets in Vietnam, with about 10 stores per year.

Vietnamese banks promote development of global strong brands

Vietnamese banks have also proactively improved their image and position in the international arena. According to Brand Finance's 2025 rankings, 13 Vietnamese banks are now listed in the Top 500 banks with the highest brand value globally.

In response to these trends, economic experts have recommended Hanoi to implement a range of measures to manage inflation in the coming months. They emphasised the need to strengthen price monitoring of essential goods, particularly food, fuel, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare services.

Vietnamese specialties introduced to Malaysian consumers

A highlight of the Vietnam Goods Week in Malaysia is the introduction of Vietnamese culinary booths featuring iconic dishes like Vietnamese banh mi (baguette), pho (rice noodle), and coffee by the "Saigon Station" restaurant.

Canadian companies shift to Vietnamese market

At the event, the students were informed about how to take advantage of the free trade agreements that Vietnam and Canada have signed to optimise supply chains, production and export channels. In addition, they also heard about Vietnam's potential as an Asian logistics hub.
