Gathering marks RoK’s National Foundation Day in HCM City

The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) and the city’s Vietnam – Republic of Korea (RoK) Friendship Association on October 10 mounted a get-together to celebrate the 4,351st anniversary of the East Asian country’s National Foundation Day.

Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City Unionof Friendship Organisations (HUFO) and the city’s Vietnam – Republic of Korea(RoK) Friendship Association on October 10 mounted a get-together to celebrate the4,351st anniversary of the East Asian country’s National Foundation Day.

Speaking at the event, Nguyen Van Manh, Vice President ofthe HUFO, said that the two countries’ relations are developing across thefields, from politics, economy, people-to-people exchange, to culture, sport,and tourism.

He added the sides have frequently exchanged high-rankingdelegations, set up cooperation programmes, and supported each other atmultilateral and international forums.

Manh highlighted the fact that Vietnam and the RoK are bigtrade partner of each other, with the number of Vietnamese living in the RoKalmost equaling that of Koreans in Vietnam.

Lim Jae-hoon, RoK Consul General to HCM City, said amid suchrobust ties, the city has developed an effective cooperation with Busan andseveral other localities in the RoK

The city is also a venue for many joint projects andcultural activities between the two countries as well as for the reception ofRoK high-raking delegations and leaders, the diplomat noted.

Currently, 3,000 RoK firms are investing in the city andabout 100,000 Koreans are living here and in neighbouring provinces./.
