Hai Duong expands int’l standard lychee plantation

On April 20, Hai Duong province held a conference paving the way for the expansion of its lychee and longan growing areas in accordance with international standards. Three enterprises have since signed contracts to consume hundreds of tonnes of lychees.

The northern province of Hai Duong is developing 23 lychee and longan plantations with a total area of 220 hectares that meet international standards for plant quarantine and food safety.  

The local agriculture sector is also working with exporters to supervise the production process. 

According to statistics, Hai Duong province has 9,700ha of lychee farms. In 2020, it is expected to yield a total output of about 45,000 tonnes./.
