HCM City, Japanese firm cooperate in water treatment

HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City highly valuesthe role played by advanced technologies of foreign countries, including Japan,in the city’s development, said Le Thanh Liem, Vice Chairman of the municipalPeople’s Committee.

At a reception for Umezu Yasuhisa, General Director ofJapan’s Nagaoka Company in HCM City on March 6, Liem lauded the company’s technologiesin water treatment.

He noted the Japanese firm’s chemical-free groundwater treatmenttechnologies and assigned the Saigon Water Corporation(SAWACO) to study the project in terms of economy, social interests andenvironmental protection.

Ensuring clean water supply is one of the basic developmentcriteria set by HCM City, he said, adding that the southern metropolis iscarrying out a roadmap to reduce the exploitation of ground water resources inthe future, thus easing adverse impacts of climate change and geologicaldepression.

For his part, Yasuhisa said Nagaoka wishes to continue itscooperation with HCM City and successfully implement cooperation projects in cleanwater treatment with SAWACO.

Nagaoka always attaches importance to cooperative ties withHCM City and stands ready to transfer technical solutions for water treatmentto the city, he said.-VNA
