Indonesia, RoK discuss development of rail infrastructure in Bali
Governor of Indonesia’s Bali province Wayan Koster has held a bilateral meeting with the Republic of Korea’s Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation Yoon Sung-won to discuss a plan to develop rail infrastructure in Bali.

develop rail infrastructure in Bali.
Both sides also talked about the development of an industrial zone for clean energy and electric vehicles and a regional centre for infrastructure and transportation development on the island.
As a popular international tourist destination, Bali needs connected and integrated infrastructure, such as trains and battery-based motorized vehicles, to grow in a sustainable manner, said Koster.
He hoped that Bali will receive technical assistance and investment from the RoK to develop its infrastructure, especially rail transport.
Yoon, for his part, welcomed the idea, saying the RoK wants to introduce its technological progress and transport system to be used in Bali.
The partnership between the RoK and Bali has begun with the conduct of a feasibility study for the construction of a Light Rail Transit (LRT) to connect I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport and Bali’s inner area, he said.
Indonesia has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with two partners from the RoK to develop the LRT system, worth 5 trillion IDR (over 350 million USD), in early 2020.
The project is carried out under a partnership among Indonesia’s state-owned construction firm Nindya Karya, Korea Rail Network Authority (KRNA) and Korea Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development Corporation (KIND).
The KRNA has also provided 500 million USD to finance the development of another LRT network connecting the Velodrome sport facility in Rawamangun, East Jakarta, with Dukuh Atas, Central Jakarta./.
