Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries has expanded the country’s fishery export access through agreements with authorities in Türkiye and China, securing export approvals for 57 fish processing units.
As reported by the Indonesian national news agency Antara, after the issuance of the approval numbers, the 57 fishery businesses can export fish and other fishery products to the two countries.
Head of the Agency for Quality Control and Supervision of Marine and Fishery Products Ishartini said in an official release in Jakarta on February 23 that proposing fish processing units is more than just submitting a list; it involves technical verification and completing questionnaires that meet the specific requirements of Turkish and Chinese authorities.
She added that the proposed units hold the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certificates and strictly implement sanitation, hygiene, and fish food safety standards.
According to her, 56 units were submitted for approval to Türkiye, of which 52 have received approval numbers. The remaining four are still undergoing verification.
Meanwhile, all five units proposed to China were immediately approved by the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC).
Türkiye is considered a promising market for Indonesian fishery products. Data from 2025 show that seven main commodities exported to the country, including skipjack tuna, tuna, and carrageenan, reached a total volume of 2,600 tonnes, valued at 4.6 million USD.
Meanwhile, China remains Indonesia's largest export destination, with 1,080 types of fishery commodities shipped to the country. Last year, Indonesia's fishery exports to China reached 491,528 tonnes worth 1.04 billion USD./.
