Industrial production up 4.7 percent in March

Vietnam’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) in March increased by 4.7 percent against the same month last year.
Vietnam’s Index of IndustrialProduction (IIP) in March increased by 4.7 percent against the samemonth last year.

According to the GeneralStatistics Office, in the first three months of 2014, the IIP hasrecorded a year-on-year rise of 5.2 percent, higher than the rate of 5percent in the corresponding period of 2013.

Several industries have seen high growth in the reviewed period, such astextile (20.2 percent), leather and leather products (19.4 percent) andready-made clothes (14 percent).

The northern portcity of Hai Phong and the central city of Da Nang are among thelocalities seeing the highest IIP increase rates, with 11.3 percent and10.5 percent respectively.

They are followed byQuang Nam province (8.9 percent, Dong Nai province (7.1 percent) andBinh Duong province (6.5 percent).

Meanwhile,decline in industrial production has been seen in Quang Ninh province(3.5 percent) and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province (1.7 percent).-VNA

Vietnam takes steps to address drop in durian exports to China

A report from the ministry shows that Vietnam’s durian exports to China reached only 35,000 tonnes worth around 130 million USD in the first four months of this year, equivalent to only 20% of export targets. In comparison, durian exports totalled 500 million USD in the same period last year.

Sydney forum explores investment opportunities between Vietnam, Australia

Vietnam Airlines resumes direct Hanoi–Moscow flights

Vietnam Airlines will operate two flights on the Hanoi–Moscow route a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. From July 2026, the airline plans to increase the frequency to three flights per week to meet rising travel demand between the two countries.

The second Special ASEAN Economic Ministers' Meeting on negotiations for upgrading the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA) has created a favourable foundation for the next rounds of negotiations, towards the signing of the second protocol to upgrade the ATIGA during the 47th ASEAN Summit, slated for November 2025 in Malaysia.
