Vientiane (VNA) – Lao President Bounnhang Vorachit on December 10issued a decree on promoting the military rank of Defence Minister ChansamoneChanyalath from Senior Lieutenant General to General.

The President assignedPrime Minister Thongloun Sisulith to direct the enforcement, the country’s Socio-EconomicDaily newspaper reported on December 11.

The issuance of thedecree is pursuant to the 2015 Constitution and the 2018 Law on MilitaryOfficers of the Lao People's Army, and follows the Prime Minister’s proposal onNovember 23.

Chansamone Chanyalath, born in 1946, wasappointed to Defence Minister of Laos at the first Plenary Session of the eighthNational Assembly in April 2016.-VNA
