Hanoi (VNA) – Lao Digital Week 2025, themed “Strengthening and Sustaining Laos’s Digital Infrastructure”, which opened recently in Vientiane capital, aimed to enhance the country’s digital capabilities.
In his remarks at the opening ceremony on April 2, Lao Minister of Technology and Communications Boviengkham Vongdara highlighted the rapid development of digital technology, which has become a driving force for global socio-economic progress.
Emphasising the growing importance of technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), he stressed the need for Laos to embrace this digital revolution to enhance its development. Additionally, Boviengkham noted the government's ongoing efforts to integrate technology into public administration and services while the private sector increasingly shifts online.
To support this transformation, the government has set out a national digital transformation strategy focusing on digital government, digital economy, and digital society, he said.
The week features a range of activities, including seminars and forums on technology topics with the participation of experts from Laos and abroad. The event also showcases cutting-edge digital products, hosts competitions for Lao-made digital products, and provides opportunities for bilateral discussions with international development partners./.
