Laos, DPRK agree to boost partnership

Laos and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) have agreed to continue maintaining exchange of visits and sharing information, while boosting their partnership in economics as well as other potential areas on the basis of mutual benefit.

The agreement wasreached during the talks between Lao Deputy Prime Minister and ForeignMinister Thongloun Sisoulith and DPRK Foreign Minister of Ri Su-yong inVientiane on August 5, as part of the latter’s two-day visit toLaos .

They noted that over the past years,bilateral ties between Laos and DPRK have grown steadily throughregular exchange of delegations at all levels.
ThonglounSisoulith lauded Ri Su-yong’s visit which, he said, would significantlycontribute to furthering the traditional friendship and cooperationbetween the two Parties, States and peoples.

During the talks, the two sides also agreed to continue consulting regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Later the same day, Ri Su-yong paid courtesy calls to Lao PresidentChoummaly Sayasone and Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong.-VNA
