Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim concluded a two-day official visit to Thailand from April 17–18, marking his second trip to the country since taking office in 2022.
Meeting his Thai counterpart Paetongtarn Shinawatra, PM Anwar reaffirmed Malaysia's commitment to promoting sustainable, inclusive, and people-centered economic development in the region. He stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation with neighbouring countries, particularly Thailand.
In response, Thai PM Shinawatra affirmed Thailand's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Malaysia, especially in the Halal industry and rubber sector in border areas for the mutual benefits of both nations.
The two leaders witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the construction agreement (CA) for the Rantau Panjang–Sungai Golok bridge project. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to addressing new US tariff policies through ASEAN framework.
According to the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thailand ranked as Malaysia’s seventh largest trade partner globally and third within ASEAN last year, with a total trade volume reaching 25.03 billion USD./.

Thailand and Malaysia, the ASEAN Chair, announced an agreement to coordinate with Myanmar on the delivery of international aid, with the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre) serving as the central coordinator.
