Hanoi (VNA) – The Government has asked ministries, sectors and localities to closely monitor developments of domestic and global situations to devise suitable policies, said Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung during a cabinet press conference on March 1.

He said that during the cabinet meeting on March 1, ministries, sectors and localities were urged to implement measures set in Government resolutions and their action programmes, as well as Dispatch 240/CD-TTg dated February 21, 2018 on implementing tasks after the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment should promptly build a growth scenario and submit it to the Government before March 15.

Dung said that this year, ministries, sectors will focus on finalising some major projects such as the urban railway, Tan Son Nhat airport and soon launch the North-South Expressway. Business conditions and inspection procedures will continue to be cut, thus assisting start-ups and creating a smooth investment environment.

Answering reporters’ question on Tan Son Nhat airport expression, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong said the ministry will continue gathering opinions on the expansion project and calculating investment efficiency.

Research on the project by ADPi Engineering from France has been submitted to Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung.

Dong stressed the significance of the expansion of the airport amidst regional aviation development, including the operation of Long Thanh airport in 2025.

Dong added that next week, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung will listen to reports before leaders of the Government consider the project.

Responding to queries on Export-Import Bank (Eximbank)’s customers money loss, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Nguyen Thi Hong said the case occurred in 2017. At the end of 2017, police started legal proceedings in the case. The SBV has directed Eximbank to cooperate with agencies during the investigation.

Hong affirmed the SBV’s viewpoint of prioritising the interests of customers, adding that Eximbank has met customers to discuss settlement while awaiting the court’s judgment.-VNA
