-Heads of state and government, and ruling parties, communist parties, partner parties, and international organisations have sent messages and letters of condolences to the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Vietnamese people and the family of Party Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong over the passing of the Party leader.Read full story

-General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith has recounted the close comradeship with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and shared what he learned from the late Vietnamese leader.

- President To Lam on July 23 met the liaison board of veterans of the Parachute-Commando Division 305, towards celebrating the 70th traditional day of the division (August 30), the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th All People's Defence Day (December 22).

Division 305 was established on August 30, 1954, with the core being several major regiments and battalions which were relocated to the northern region from the battlefields in the North Central Highlands and mid-central regions.Read full story

-Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Luong Cuong hosted a reception in Hanoi on July 23 for Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo who came to say goodbye at the end of his tenure.

During the reception, Cuong thanked the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee for early sending condolences to the Party, State and people of Vietnam after Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away. Writing in the funeral book at the embassy, the minister wrote that General Secretary Trong will be remembered as a leader with firm will and a great mind, who has devoted his entire life to the development and prosperity of the Vietnamese country and people. The General Secretary’s lifelong career has contributed to Vietnam’s transformation and rapid development, he wrote.Read full story

-The Catholic community in Vietnam is always put at the centre of the Vietnam-Vatican relationship, heard a workshop held in Hanoi on July 23 on Pope Francis’s letter to the community on the occasion of the adoption of the Agreement on the Status of the Resident Papal Representative and the Office of the Resident Papal Representative of the Holy See in Vietnam.

-Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi held talks with Cuban Minister of Construction Rene Mesa Villafana in Hanoi on July 23, aiming to review the implementation of agreements on cooperation in construction in line with the minutes of the 41st meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Intergovernmental Committee signed in Cuba on April 15 and exchange contents that need to be promoted in the coming time.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction has provided support for the Dinvai Vietnam Co.Ltd, a Cuban enterprise operating in Vietnam, to obtain a certificate in the field of civil construction, Nghi said, adding that the ministry is working to help the company acquired another in the field of infrastructure and transportation.Read full story
